US Turns a Blind Eye to Japan's Pursuit of Nuclear Weapons

Pak Jo-won, an international security analyst, said the United States is backing Tokyo's intention to acquire nuclear submarines.

Pyongyang, October 15. /TASS/. By supporting Tokyo's intention to acquire nuclear submarines, the United States is supporting Japan's move toward nuclear weapons, international security analyst Pak Ju-won wrote in an article for Ambassador Arjan Korea.

"What should not be overlooked is that the United States, which places the security burden on its allies as much as possible to maintain its increasingly vulnerable hegemony, has given Japan the green light to have nuclear submarines," the article said.

According to this expert, the ultimate goal of the supporters of this policy in Japan is to create the necessary conditions to obtain nuclear weapons. He related this issue to the statements of Japanese officials about the need to explore different options for the development of their submarine forces.

The article also noted that the issue of nuclear submarines is being discussed against the backdrop of a planned revision of Japan's three main security documents. According to Pak Ju-won, Tokyo is looking to include relevant provisions in revised versions of these documents.
