This trip is considered the first visit of a Russian interior minister to Pakistan. The statement added that Kolokoltsev was received by Talal Chaudhry, Minister of State Affairs, upon his arrival in Islamabad.

In recent years, the relations between Pakistan and Russia have gone beyond the bitter hostility of the Cold War era.
