Slovak Prime Minister says EU has paid a heavy price for oil crisis and ongoing war

Robert Fico said the EU is isolating itself from the rest of the world and has no voice in resolving military conflicts worldwide or addressing the most important international issues.

Bratislava, October 12. /TASS/. Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said that the European Union has paid a heavy price for the oil crisis and the ongoing wars.

"So far, only the European Union has paid a huge price for the oil crisis and the wars that are going on around us," he said in a video posted by his party Direction-Social Democracy, known as SMER, on its Facebook page (Facebook is banned in Russia because it is owned by Meta, who has been identified as an extremist).

Fico said that the EU is isolating itself from the rest of the world and has no say in resolving military conflicts around the world and addressing the most important international issues, adding that the EU's sanctions policy is ineffective.

The Prime Minister of Slovakia emphasized that his country is against stopping the import of Russian oil and gas to Europe. He pledged that Slovakia will remain committed to its independent foreign policy and will spare no effort to persuade the European Union to reconsider its decision to ban energy supplies from Russia. He recalled that, therefore, Bratislava challenged the European Commission's ban on Russian gas imports with the European Court of Justice.

Fico said that Slovakia will play an active role in the European Union. Pointing out that the European Union summit will be held on Thursday and Friday this week, he emphasized: We must say something about the pro-war policy that currently prevails in the European Union. He said the international situation was "very bad". The prime minister of Slovakia added: fear of military conflict.
