German expert calls plans to limit gas transit to Kaliningrad "well-calculated escalation".

Foreign policy expert Suim Dagdalen from the German BSW party believes that Estonia's actions are coordinated with NATO allies.

Berlin, October 16. /TASS/. Estonia's plans to cut off an alternative gas supply route to Russia's Baltic region in Kaliningrad "is a calculated escalation," said Suim Dagdalen, a foreign policy expert from Germany's BSW party (formerly Wagenknecht Sahrawi Logic and Justice).

"The cut off of an alternative gas route to Russia's Kaliningrad region announced by NATO member Estonia is another calculated escalation apparently coordinated with allies. Who will stop these madmen?!" He wrote on X social network.

Earlier, Eesti Ekspress newspaper reported that the transit of Russian natural gas support to Kaliningrad via Estonia may be stopped due to the political stance of the Baltic state's government. Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Mikal announced plans to begin decommissioning the pipeline, prompting authorities to reach an agreement on the issue with Latvia, which hosts the shut-off valve. Eesti Ekspress said: "If an agreement cannot be reached with Riga, the Prime Minister believes that there is a possibility of banning transit based on the national sanctions of Estonia."

Russia uses the pipeline as a backup option for deliveries to Kaliningrad under an active, long-term contract.

The Russian government has repeatedly emphasized that efforts to isolate the Kaliningrad region will result in serious retaliatory measures.
