Mise En Scene has acquired worldwide rights to “Run,” the comedy-drama marathon directed by “Schitt’s Creek” star Sarah Levy, and has unveiled a first look image exclusively with Variety.

The London and New York-based outfit, known as MSC, will begin selling US products in the American film market, operating from the UK Film Export booth. Philippa Sue ("Hamilton") and Adam Paley ("Happy Ending") co-star.

Melissa Miller Costanzo directs Plain Jane, Barry Levitt-Canney's debut novel, which he co-produces with Matt Jensen.

Levy plays Jane Cooper, whose marathon takes place alongside the flashbacks. One thread follows his bond with Gabi (Sue), his college roommate, through conflict and eventual reconciliation. Another follows her marriage to Jordan (Paley), who longs for a bigger family. A quiet act of generosity on Jane's part leads to life-changing consequences, forcing her to realize what she's done and to do right by those closest to her.

The race gives the film structure and many of its emotional motivations. Chris Redd (Saturday Night Live, Bust Down) and Hannah Dunne (Mozart in the Jungle) star as Mitch and Country, respectively.

Paul Yates, CEO of Mise En Scene, said: "This is a very uplifting, eloquent and lovely film that will find a home in many people's hearts. It is as kind as its maker and we are delighted to represent it and bring it to the world."

This movie is MSC's first pickup in the romantic comedy space.

Levy, who played Twyla Sands in "Schitt's Creek," also has "Surreal Estate" and "United We Fall" among her credits. Sue was nominated for a Tony and an Emmy after playing Eliza in "Hamilton" on Broadway, while Pauly played Max Bloom in "Happy Endings."

Costanzo directed The List for Universal Pictures alongside Halston Sage, Christian Navarro and Chrissy Fitt. He made his writer-director debut with All These Little Moments starring Molly Ringwald, Brian Darcy James and Jemima Kirk, which bowed in Tribeca's 2018 Narrative Spotlight before being picked up by Orion Classics. He also wrapped "The Great Recession," starring Paul Sparks, Keith Burton, and Xander Berkley.

Music plays the main role. Lost Leaders provides the film's soundtrack, which consists of 11 covers and two original songs, all sung by women, including Sue and Vicki Peterson of the Bangles. Oscar-winning songwriter Paul Williams collaborated with Wes Hamill on the closing credits number, which Williams and Peterson perform together.

Knee's B's Knees, LLC and Jensen's Yes!Jensen Films are producing, with Jax Katz and Levy serving as executive producers. Broderick Engelhard is the cinematographer, Gino Fortebono is the production designer and Charles Newman is the music supervisor.

Signing the film with MSC was a thrill, Knee said. "I immediately clicked with Paul and his team and knew The Run would be in good hands," Connie said.

Yates and Rory MacDonald identified MSC's deal with David Roth. Sloss Eckhouse Dasti Haynes LLP negotiated for B’s Knees, LLC.
