The Nexphone phone with the ability to run three operating systems, Android 17, Linux and Windows 11, is scheduled to be released in March 2027. This phone can be converted into a desktop computer for $599.

Tina Mazdaki - The Nexfone phone was introduced in January 2026 and was supposed to reach buyers in the third quarter of the same year. With the end of this period and the devices not being sent, the manufacturer announced in a new article that the product release has been postponed until March 2027. According to Nex Computer, this extra time is meant to optimize the phone's software. Despite this delay, it is possible to reserve Nexphone through the company's online store. The announced price for the device is $599, and buyers must pay $199 in advance when making a reservation.

The most important feature of Nexphone is support for three operating systems: Android 17, Debian Linux and Windows 11. Users can choose their desired operating system when restarting the device. Since Windows 11 is designed for use on personal computers, the company has developed a special user interface inspired by Windows Phone to make it easier to work with this operating system on the phone screen. The Nexfone can also act as a desktop computer by connecting to a monitor, keyboard and mouse. These devices can be connected through the USB hub that comes with the device, which is equipped with an HDMI port. The manufacturer also offers an optional laptop dock.

In terms of hardware, Nexfone is in the category of mid-range phones. This device uses a Qualcomm QCM6490 chip, which is comparable to the Snapdragon 778G in terms of performance. The main specifications of the phone are:

IPS display with a size of 6.58 inches, a resolution of 1080 pixels plus and a refresh rate of 120 Hz

Internal memory of 256 GB with the possibility of increasing the capacity via microSD card

5000 mAh battery with wireless charging support

Thickness 13.1 mm and weight 256 grams

Can the Nexphone replace the computer?

The ability to run Windows 11 and Linux alongside Android distinguishes Nexfone from many ordinary phones. This device can be attractive for users who need to run multiple software environments in one device. The possibility of connecting to the display and peripheral equipment also takes its applications beyond a smartphone. However, the ability to run multiple operating systems alone is not a complete replacement for the PC. The actual performance of the device in running desktop software, program compatibility and user experience will be determined after the release. So, for now, Nexfone is a different product with significant capabilities that we have to wait until its official release for a final evaluation.
