According to Ambassador Arjan's report, Alibaba unveiled its new generation of smart glasses called Qwen Glasses N1 series at an event in Hangzhou on Tuesday to expand its influence in the consumer electronics market. The Chinese giant, which aims to become a full-fledged provider of AI technology from data centers to utility products, is launching the smart glasses at a base price of 2,999 yuan (about $450).
The price level of this gadget shows that Alibaba is looking for quality competition with Ray Ben Meta smart glasses and does not intend to compete by relying only on price reduction. Just like Meta's strategy, which sees smart glasses as a gateway to enter the field of voice assistants and artificial intelligence tools, Alibaba has also equipped the new glasses with Qwen artificial intelligence assistant.
Using its microphones, users can interact with this voice assistant, issue voice commands, perform simultaneous translation and leave meeting notes to Aynak.
Technical features and capabilities of Qwen N1 smart glasses
The Qwen N1 smart glasses are equipped with sensors and an upgraded 50 megapixel camera, and its charge reaches 25 hours in standby mode or 9 hours of continuous music playback with a single charge. Also, the battery of this product is replaceable. The more advanced version of this family, the N1 Pro, is available at a price of 3,499 yuan (about $525), which, in addition to the features of the standard version, is equipped with eye tracking technology. With this feature, users can ask AI questions about an object by looking at it and use iris scanning to confirm payments. The Pro version also includes health monitoring sensors such as heart rate, blood oxygen and skin temperature.
In addition to these glasses, Alibaba has started selling its first artificial intelligence earbuds called Qwen Clip. Developed in collaboration with Bose, this audio gadget connects to the earlobe and costs 1,299 yuan (about $195). This earbud also supports the ability to translate and record voice notes. According to new Chinese guidelines issued in September, makers of artificial intelligence glasses must include a warning light on the product to illuminate when video is being recorded.
