New Hurdle for Iranian Exporters / The Knot That Raises Export Costs

Tehran Chamber of Commerce Head, pointing to the extra costs imposed on Iranian exporters, called for serious follow-up by the National Standards Organization to remove obstacles to the international acceptance of inspection certificates and prevent products from being retested in third countries.

Ambassador Arjan: Referring to the imposition of additional costs on Iranian exporters, the head of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce called for a serious follow-up by the National Standard Organization to remove obstacles to the international acceptance of inspection certificates and prevent the repetition of product testing in third countries.

The head of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce said: Despite having accepted standards, Iranian exporters are still forced to pay exorbitant costs for re-tests in third countries due to the non-acceptance of the country's inspection certificates in the target markets, and this situation requires serious follow-up by the National Standards Organization to remove barriers to mutual acceptance.

Najafi-Arab said at the World Standard Day commemoration ceremony: This year's World Standard Day slogan is affordable and clean energy, for Iran's economy, it is not only an environmental issue, but it has a direct relationship with the continuation of business activities, production costs and ability to compete in global markets.

He added: Today, the imbalance of electricity and gas is one of the serious challenges of the country's economy, especially the industry, which has affected the production capacity and planning of enterprises, and although the development of power plants is necessary, part of the answer lies in managing consumption and increasing productivity.

Referring to the growth of renewable power plant capacity in the country from 3.7 gigawatts to around 5 to 6 gigawatts this year, the head of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce stated: the development of clean energy will not be sustainable without ensuring the quality of the equipment. Therefore, solar panels and storage systems must be evaluated according to valid requirements to reduce investment risk.

Najafi Arab continued: In the international acceptance of Iran's test results, despite achieving alignment in international frameworks, Iranian exporters continue to incur additional costs for re-tests in third countries due to the non-acceptance of Iranian inspection certificates in the destination markets. It is expected that the National Standards Organization will identify and remove the obstacles to the acceptance of Iranian certificates in the target markets through effective negotiations.

Regarding the technical regulation system, he said: Tehran Chamber of Commerce supports the establishment of this system, but the realization of its goals requires inter-institutional coordination, avoiding parallel work, participation of the private sector in the formulation of regulations and predictability of economic activities.

The head of Tehran Chamber of Commerce suggested: three axes should be followed with the participation of specialized organizations, the first axis; Identifying obstacles to standardization in the field of renewable energy and consumption optimization, and the second axis; Developing a road map for the development of international acceptance of Iran's test results by determining a specific schedule and the third axis; Creating a mechanism for the effective participation of the private sector in developing technical regulations and preventing parallel processes of qualification approval.

In the end, Najafi-Arab emphasized the need to support the production sector on the eve of winter and said: We request the present officials to have the air of the country's industry in the face of electricity and gas imbalance so that the producers do not embarrass the people's table by continuing their activities.
