Warner Bros. Livesden, the studio's UK production hub, saw revenue rise 11 percent year-on-year, according to its latest financial accounts.
The studios, located just outside London, are expected to generate £292m ($390m) in revenue in the year to 2025, up from £264m last year. Gross profit jumped 10% (from £182m to £200m), although profit after tax fell 15%, partly due to more than doubling profits tax, from £14m in 2024 to £29m last year. In addition to being used for various Warner Bros. productions, from "Dragon House" to "Batman," Leavesden hosts the "Harry Potter" studio tour, which gives attendees the chance to see sets, costumes and props from the original films. Popular in Variety
According to the financial report, the tour accounts for 63% of the company's revenue, which has reached £185m this year, up from £177m last year. The report is due to increased visitor numbers and increased spending on the tour, which includes shops, cafes and additional experiences such as photo packages.
Studio facilities, equipment and services also jumped from £87.0m to £107m on the previous year, which the report attributed to higher occupancy from continued studio expansion.
WBD spent £263m last year to develop Webber's studio, according to the report, "tour-related assets". The expansion will create 400,000 square feet of production space and additional facilities, including 10 new sound stages, increasing the studio's production capacity by more than 50 percent. It is on track to be completed in the second quarter of next year.
Among other projects in the pipeline, HBO's upcoming "Harry Potter" series, due out this Christmas, is currently in production at Leavesden, and the Robert Pattinson-led "Batman 2" is in production (although the film was shelved last week after director Matt Reeves had to step down due to a "family matter").
As is customary in England, Leavesden's financial report sets out the previous year's accounts. This year's accounts, which are dated September 30, 2026 and were made available at the UK's Companies House this week, were complicated by the fact that parent company Warner Bros. Discovery was still preparing the accounts, as filed in the financial report, which was still in the process of being bought by Skydance.
"As the transaction has not yet been completed, including any future refinancing, the company's directors are unable to fully assess the effect of the transaction on the company's future financial and operating framework," the independent auditors note.
The £111 billion deal was finally closed on October 6.
