"My father, Martin 'Pop' Hovan, believed in reaching out and helping out wherever he could," Kevin said in a statement Thursday. "Project Angel Food does this every day, providing not only meals, but compassion and connection to people facing serious illness. Pope would be happy to know that this gift will help put the organization's first electric delivery van into service, allowing them to reach even more people. It means so much to our family to honor him through an organization that so beautifully reflects his values." Popular in Variety

The new electric van was unveiled on Wednesday at a ceremony at CAA's offices in Los Angeles. The van features an image of Pope and a quote that reads: "In memory of Martin 'Pop' Hovan, whose big heart, sharp wit and unwavering integrity lit up the lives of all who knew him for nine decades."

The event was attended by members of Havan's family and friends, as well as Richard Ayoub, CEO of Project Angel Food and Chief Development Officer of LaShanda Maze. This is the first electric van in the history of this organization.

Pope was a devoted husband, father of six, grandfather and a proud New Yorker. Pope, who was married to his beloved wife Geneva for 46 years before his death, worked for the New York City Department of Transportation, Encyclopaedia Britannica and owned a neighborhood deli.

"Van Martin 'Pop' Hovan will be traveling throughout Los Angeles County delivering not only life-saving meals, but also hope and love to our often-invisible neighbors," said Ayoub. "This will be part of a fleet that delivers more than 1.5 million meals each year, and is the second van that Kevin Hovan has donated to Project Angel Food, our first electric van."

This electric van can travel up to 130 miles on a single charge with enough meals and refill bags for up to 50 customers per day. The van joins a fleet that serves more than 2,600 customers daily on 92 routes and 130,000 meals per month, including covering 220,000 miles annually in 4,751 square miles of Los Angeles County.
