The President of the United States denied issuing an order to reduce military satellite communication services (Starshield) to Ukraine.
According to Ambassador Arjan, quoted by Reuters, US President Donald Trump announced that he did not order the reduction of Starshield's satellite communication services to Ukraine and said that he is in talks with the leaders of the two countries to end the war between Russia and Ukraine.
In response to the reports about the limitation of satellite services used by the Ukrainian army, he said that he did not order the reduction of these services.
Emphasizing his desire to end the war in Ukraine, the US president added that he is negotiating with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin, and believes that both sides want to end the war.
Trump previously said that the United States continues to cooperate and exchange information with Ukraine and is in contact with Russia to end the conflict.
Trump's comments come amid reports that StarShield, SpaceX's military satellite communications system, has been restricted to Ukrainian forces.
According to a Reuters report, three US and Western officials said the order to limit the service was issued from within the White House, but did not identify the specific officials who made the decision. On the other hand, a senior American official has emphasized that Trump did not make such a request.
Volodymyr Zelensky also announced the gradual return of services, but said that the access of Ukrainian forces has not yet fully returned to the previous situation.
Starshield is the military and government version of the Starlink satellite system used for secure communications and military applications. Reports of the system's limitations have raised concerns about its impact on Ukrainian forces' field communications and drone operations.
