'We Have Guns Too': Democratic Candidate's Weird Anti-MAGA Slogan Takes a Surprising Turn

Indiana County Council hopeful Jamie West lashed out at Republicans during a caucus before delivering a pointed closing message as the moderator heads to the finish line.

A Democratic candidate for county council in eastern Indiana was mocked Tuesday after critics claimed he appeared "face-to-face" and pushed his way through attacks on Republicans during a televised candidate forum.

During the forum, Fayette County Council candidate Jamie West said he would fire "all Republicans" if elected, criticized "maggots" he called "racist" and mindless, and claimed the sheriff's nephew threatened to kill him. Asked for a final message to voters, West replied, "We have guns too."

"This is not a story," said LibsOfTikTok, a popular conservative account run by commentator Chaya Raichik.

"Jimmy West, a Democrat running for Fayette County Council in Indiana, gave an embarrassing interview in which he appears to be mumbling the entire time. Is he drunk?" Rychik asked in X.

"I had to make sure he didn't have a neurological disorder that could be causing slurred speech and crazy noises. He doesn't have one. And even if he had a diagnosed neurological disorder," Muffry said, after talking about firing all Republicans who usually own guns.

When asked what he would do if elected and become unpopular with voters, West told the moderator, "Fire all the Republicans."

"I won't let them — I won't even talk to them, I don't like them. They voted no — their own state representative voted against his own party.

“You did all this to us… you made this happen. This is ICE coming into our communities and stealing people's jobs. I mean, I've been threatened to my face by MAGA many times. "We're going to call them out because there are Republicans who really get it, you know there are good Republicans out there, but then there's these MAGAs who are just racist and not very smart at all," West continued.

"They call you names. The sheriff's nephew threatened to blow my head off. But, you know, what are you going to do?"

The moderator paused before asking West for one last message to voters:

"We have guns, too," West said.

West was not immediately available for comment. While it wasn't immediately clear which Indiana sheriff's office West was referring to, Zach Jones — who runs the Fayette County Sheriff's Office there — was stunned.

"It's a sad day when this is the best the Democratic Party can get for this important local office."

West is running against Republican Gary Keener Jr. in Fayette County, which is anchored by Connersville.
