Ari Emanuel, executive chairman of WME Group and executive chairman and CEO of TKO Group, is back to debate the GOATs with his friend and music director Ben Persky — with a parade of notable guests — on the new season of his "Rushmore" podcast.
"Rushmore" Season 2 will be available to watch on YouTube and listen on all major podcast platforms. (Season 1 premiered exclusively at last year's Elon Musk X.) Related stories like its hero, Marvel's VisionQuest struggle for emotional connection: TV Review
According to Emanuel and Persky, the idea behind "Rushmore" is to go beyond the usual GOAT (Greatest of All Time) arguments to tap into the insights — and personal stories — of top figures in sports, entertainment, media, fashion, music, gaming and more. Popular in Variety
Season 2 premieres Oct. 20, with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and sports analyst Pat McAfee joining Emanuel and Persky to discuss who's on the Mount Rushmore of NFL comebacks.
Season 2, which airs a week later on Oct. 27 as the NBA season kicks off, brings Shaquille O'Neal and Kevin Durant together for another perennial debate: the top five starts in NBA history. After the first two episodes, Rushmore goes to a bi-weekly release track.
Later this season, Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld will join Emanuel and Persky for a special episode about the comedy GOATs taped at Netflix's Is a Joke festival in May 2026.
"Everyone has their own Rushmore, and everyone thinks Rushmore is right," Emanuel said in a statement. "Season 2 turns up the volume with bigger arguments, bigger characters and even more people willing to tell us why we're wrong."
"The debate is what gets us started, but it's the fun in the stories and the history that drives the conversation," Persky added. "When you explore what makes people the best, with the leading experts in those fields, you get a world-class perspective on the things we're all obsessed with."
"Rushmore" Season 2 is produced by media and podcast company nativ.ly and by Pantheon Media Group. The footage was shot primarily at WME Group's newly renovated headquarters in Beverly Hills.
The return of the podcast comes a month after Emanuel's new memoir, Please Calls, was released on September 22. In the 432-page text, Emanuel describes his rise from the CAA mailroom to become one of the most powerful people in entertainment and sports.
The first season of "Rushmore" consisted of 15 episodes, with guests including Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Anna Wintour, Elon Musk, Rick Rubin, Dana White, Jimmy Iovine, Bob Costas, Al Michaels, Doris Kearns Goodwin, John Meacham, Jeff Koons, Jeffrey Ditcham, Enbenink, Inez and Ann Bordich Vanful.
