Apple has announced its latest Apple TV 4K – the first in four years – and it will be available from Friday, November 13. It's powered by a powerful A19 chip (the discontinued 2022 model has an A15 Bionic chip) and also has better wireless connectivity than its predecessor. Siri AI is a big part of the rollout, though it works in beta on second-generation Apple TV 4K models and later. The new Find My tracking feature works with 2nd generation and newer Siri remotes.
It's not cheap at $299 (double the cost of the original Apple TV 4K 2022, until it went up to $249 a few months ago), but those who've been waiting a while for the new version can pre-order now. Right now, the only place to cut money is Apple, though other retailers are likely to follow suit.
For those who feel the upgrade isn't quite what they were hoping for, the third-generation Apple TV 4K has been refurbished from 2022 for $209 through Apple. It's not bad value, as it has many of the same features (Thread connectivity, Ethernet, 128GB storage, HDMI 2.1 and more), although the A19 in the new model ensures that it feels comfortable for longer than the 2022 model. However, I recently purchased an Apple TV 4K 2022 and it's surprisingly fast.
