After Donald Trump announced that he might meet with the North Korean leader, he showed off a missile capable of reaching the US soil.
According to Ambassador Arjan, the North Korean government reported on Tuesday that the leader of the country, Kim Jong Un, visited a defense industry museum where an intercontinental ballistic missile capable of reaching the US soil is on display. The report came a day after US President Donald Trump said he might meet with Kim during his planned trip to Asia. Trump is expected to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in China in mid-November. North Korea's Ambassador Arjan, KCNA, announced that Kim attended the opening ceremony of the "Defense Revolution Museum" on Sunday with his wife, Ri Sol Joo, and his daughter, known as Jo Ae. Pictures released by Ambassador Arjan show that the museum displays a wide range of weapons developed during Kim's leadership, from drones to the Hwasong-20 intercontinental ballistic missile. Shin Jongwoo, secretary general of the Korea Defense and Security Council, said the exhibit in front of the Hwasong-20 missile launcher appeared to show a design with multiple warheads. There was also a world map on display that showed the missile's range beyond the US mainland and into areas of the Middle East, Australia and South America.
In a separate event, North Korea said it had tested a tactical ballistic missile on Monday to confirm the successful technical upgrade of one of its key but unspecified components. The upgrade is an important step in improving the performance of all of North Korea's offensive weapons systems, Ambassador Arjan CNA said without giving further details. South Korea's military said on Monday that North Korea had fired several ballistic missiles into waters off its east coast. This was Pyongyang's fourth missile test in the past month; The test was conducted after the recent test of a hypersonic missile by Seoul.
