Rodan - The head of Hormozgan Agricultural Jihad said: The cost of building a greenhouse has increased from 19 to nearly 35 billion tomans, and farmers are facing a shortage of working capital.
According to Mehr reporter, Mohsen Yektapour, on Friday evening, in the meeting to review farmers' problems held in Rodan governorate, referring to the increase in production costs in the agricultural sector, said: "Fertilizer, poison, labor, machinery and equipment depreciation costs have increased and farmers are facing serious financial problems to continue their activities."
The head of Hormozgan Agricultural Jihad added: The cost of building one hectare of greenhouses, which used to be about 19 billion Tomans, has now reached nearly 35 billion Tomans, and farmers are facing serious restrictions to secure working capital and start cultivation.
Lack of working capital and increase in production costs
Yektapour stated that the agricultural sector has an important responsibility in ensuring the country's food security, and said: In the conditions of increased production costs, farmers do not have enough working capital and the necessary facilities and subsidies are not provided to them.
Referring to the increase in water and electricity tariffs and fuel and gas supply problems in the agricultural sector, he said: Some problems can be pursued at the provincial level and through the interaction between executive bodies, but some of the issues are related to laws, tariffs and instructions issued by ministries and national companies, which cannot be solved by provincial managers.
The need to amend decisions at the national level
The head of Hormozgan Agricultural Jihad, emphasizing the need to deal with farmers' problems at the root, stated: some issues cannot be solved by holding provincial meetings and require decision-making at the national level, amending laws and developing appropriate guidelines.
Yektapour, referring to the problems related to agricultural power outage hours, stated: In some cases, changes have been made in the power outage hours by holding meetings and following up with the relevant officials, but the problems caused by energy imbalance still affect the activities of farmers.
He also pointed to the non-allocation of working capital credits to the province and said: Currently, the ministry has not notified the province of funding for the working capital of the agricultural sector, and this issue requires special attention and the provision of a support package for farmers.
Greenhouse owners are facing the problem of gas supply on the eve of the cold season
Referring to the beginning of the new agricultural year and the need to support farmers, the head of Hormozgan Agricultural Jihad noted: Farmers should start their cultivation at the right time, but financial problems, fuel supply and restrictions in the energy field have made their activities difficult.
Yektapour added: As the winter season approaches, greenhouse owners also face problems with gas supply, because in some cases, after supplying gas to an area, alternative fuel is not provided to the users, while the use of gas requires the provision of the necessary costs for the creation of infrastructure and equipment in the greenhouse.
Emphasizing that these problems are not limited to Hormozgan and exist in other provinces as well, he said: Solving these issues requires a national perspective and issuing supportive instructions.
Pursuing the problems of farmers through the parliament
In the end, the head of Hormozgan Agricultural Jihad announced, referring to the proposal to form a working group to investigate the problems of farmers, that the issues and problems raised will be categorized and presented to the relevant authorities.
Yektapour asked the representative of the people of East Hormozgan in the Islamic Council to follow up on these issues and added: We are ready to attend relevant meetings and commissions in order to solve the problems and improve the working conditions of the farmers in the province with the cooperation of the authorities.
