Don Lemon's presidential ambitions met with skepticism and amusement from former CNN colleagues.
Don Lemon says there is a 65 to 70 percent chance he will launch a White House run, and CNN staffers are reacting strongly to his presidential ambitions.
Don Lemon is quite serious about running for president
Former CNN host Don Lemon revealed in a podcast interview that he is "absolutely serious" about running for president, saying people have been asking him to run.
Leftist podcaster and former CNN host Don Lemon claims he is considering a run for president. Consider his former colleagues skeptical at best.
Lemon, an outspoken critic of President Donald Trump who launched his show after being fired by CNN in 2023, recently said there was a "65, 70%" chance he would make a bid for the White House. Lemon, who has no political experience, said he would make a better president than Trump and made his appeal to voters.
A CNN staffer slammed Lemon's apparent presidential ambitions.

The staffer was referring to the infamous moment in 2023 when Lemon infuriated female colleagues and sparked public outrage by suggesting that then-Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley was past her prime at age 51. Lemon, now 60 and almost six years older than Haley, later apologized for the comment.
They said: "If he was running, it would be interesting. It's a bit more boring than the standard 18-man on-stage process we're watching." Although, I doubt he would actually do that."
Lemon's profile came to light earlier this year when he was indicted for live streaming a protest against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at a Minnesota church. He insisted he was working as a journalist and was not part of a group that harassed churches, but Lemon has increased his criticism of Trump since the incident.
"Don wants so much to have an impact and make his contributions count," says a former colleague of Lemon's. "Other ways seem to make more sense, because running is just collecting money, which is very bad, and you're not going to get anywhere."
They continued: "I think political office is probably attractive to him. I think running for president is obviously not serious, but he could enter it as a way to launch into another office." "If Don has an itch, there are ways to scratch it that are more serious. It requires single-minded focus and he can't be a media personality and do that at the same time."

A third CNN employee said Lemon has done a good job of staying "relevant" since his firing.
Lemon was fired by then-CNN CEO Chris Licht in 2023 and has since started his own media company. Lemon's tenure at CNN came to a rocky end, as she was recently axed from her prime-time hosting gig and was sidelined for a hapless morning show with co-hosts Caitlan Collins and Poppy Harlow. His fights on the show and slamming Haley's infamous comments sealed his fate.

Evan is not the first CNN to enter politics. On-air analyst John Avalon ran for New York Congress as a Democrat in 2024, but ultimately lost.
Lemmon announced earlier this year that he has no political ambitions, but said people have asked him to do it, so he's thinking about it.
"I actually think I'd be a really good president of the United States," Lemon said on the "Can't Be Censored" podcast.
He continued: "For people to want me. What it takes is that if I were to run a political campaign, a presidential campaign, I'd like to run it, and I don't know if that's realistic or not, without having to beg for money. I'd like it to be as voter-driven as it can be." "I might have to donate at some point. I'd rather not."
Lemon did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
