Falling Raisin Prices Hit Bonab Producers and Exporters
Bonab – The Bonab Governor, pointing to falling raisin prices in export markets, stressed the need for working capital and Central Bank cooperation to help exporters meet their foreign currency obligations.
Benab- The governor of Benab, referring to the drop in the price of raisins in the export markets, emphasized the necessity of providing working capital and the cooperation of the central bank to meet the foreign exchange obligations of exporters.
According to Mehr reporter, Mohammad Hossein Qalaei on Monday evening in the review meeting of the latest state of the grape and raisin market in Benab city, which was held in the presence of Shahram Shafiei, head of East Azerbaijan Agricultural Jihad Organization, and Hojjat al-Islam Mohammad Bagheri Bonabi, representative of the people of Benab in the Islamic Council, said: the decrease in the price of raisins in the export markets has caused significant damage to farmers, producers and activists in this area, and the continuation of this trend can cause more problems for the production and export chain of this product.
Referring to the position of Bonab in the production and export of raisins, he added: This city is one of the important poles of the country's raisin exports, and disruptions in the export process, in addition to exporters, affect the livelihood of farmers and the activities of other sectors related to the production and processing of this product.
Stating that part of the problems of the activists in this field are related to financial resources and foreign exchange commitments, Governor Bonab noted: In a meeting held at the Tabriz Chamber of Commerce, the necessity of payment of working capital facilities from banks was emphasized to support the activists of this sector. The implementation of this decision can help to provide the liquidity needed by production and export units and to continue their activities.
Qalaei also called for the cooperation of the Central Bank to solve the problems related to exporters' foreign exchange obligations and said: Facilitating the process of clearing foreign exchange obligations, in addition to providing working capital, is one of the requirements to support the actors of the raisin market and help continue the export of this product.
He emphasized: If the decisions taken are not implemented and the existing problems continue, farmers, producers and exporters will face more losses. Therefore, it is necessary for the responsible institutions and the banking network to take the necessary measures in the shortest possible time to solve the problems of this sector.
