Russia Warns NATO Over Kaliningrad Security
Russia's Foreign Ministry has warned NATO over threats to the security of Kaliningrad, urging the alliance not to cross this red line.
The Russian Foreign Ministry has warned NATO about the threat to the security of Kaliningrad so that the alliance does not cross this red line.
According to Ambassador Arjan, quoted by "Interfax" news agency, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko announced that Moscow has warned NATO about the threat to the security of the Kaliningrad region so that the alliance does not cross this red line and over the edge of the precipice while preparing for a military confrontation with Russia.
Grushko in a conversation with Ambassador Arjan: "Our warning is exactly an official statement and a preventive message so that the responsible officials in NATO come to their senses and, especially considering their practical preparations for military actions against our country, do not cross the edge of this abyss."
According to this diplomat, the clear statements of NATO officials about the goal of inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia increase the possibility of the confrontation entering the "most intense phase". Groshko emphasized that "no attempt is made to reach an agreement with Russia" by this coalition, and Moscow does not have any dialogue with Western countries.
Dmitry Peskov, the spokesman of the Kremlin, warned earlier that Europe should exercise restraint in its actions and threatening statements against the Kaliningrad region of Russia. According to him, Kaliningrad is an inseparable part of the territory of the Russian Federation, and such positions on the part of Europe should not become the dominant discourse.
Russian President Vladimir Putin also announced in early October that Moscow's statements about securing Kaliningrad as part of Russian territory were not made with the aim of intimidating other countries, but were a reference to a fact. Putin once again emphasized that if there is a direct attack against Russia, the issue of Moscow's use of all available weapons, including nuclear weapons, will inevitably and immediately be on the agenda.
