The future of the Middle East is in an aura of uncertainty / the reaction of a former American official to a strategic mistake against Iran

New statements by American officials and senators about the consequences of the war revealed the failure of regional policies and fuel imports from Russia.

During his speech at the "Warsaw Security Meeting", Austin said: The Persian Gulf region will never return to the pre-war situation, and at this point, there is no easy way out of conflicts in the Middle East.

He also responded to the question whether US President Donald Trump's aggressive and unjustified war against Iran was a strategic mistake or not. He replied: History will judge this issue.

Referring to the agreement between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin to import diesel from this country, Austin pointed out: the amount of fuel we are talking about will not have a significant impact on the price at the gas station.

Chris Murphy, a Democratic Senator from the US state of Connecticut, in a message criticizing the warmongering policies of the US President, emphasized that the aggressive war of the US against Iran has humiliated the US.

Murphy wrote in a message on X social media (formerly Twitter): This war has reduced our security and raised the price of everything.

This democratic senator also pointed to the US Department of War (Pentagon) preventing him from visiting the country's base in Qatar, adding: This is why Pete Hegst (US Secretary of War) prevented me from accessing bases and military commanders when I was in the Middle East.

Murphy further noted: Hogst was not concerned about my safety, but was hiding the truth.

Earlier, Senator Chris Murphy said that the US Department of War (Pentagon) prevented him from visiting the country's base in Qatar and accused Secretary of War Pete Hegst of trying to hide the costs of Iran's war from the public.

The Democratic senator from Connecticut said of his trip to the Middle East that the Pentagon prevented him from visiting the US base in Qatar, but he saw such damage at the US embassy in Saudi Arabia that he concluded an Iranian attack could have been deadly had it occurred during the day.

He, who is a member of the Senate Foreign Relations and Appropriations Committees, described the destruction at the US Embassy in Riyadh as "extensive" and much more severe than what was publicly known.

After returning from Qatar and Saudi Arabia, Murphy said: "If that attack had happened during the day, there is no doubt that a very large number of Americans would have been killed."

He also accused the Pentagon of trying to prevent Congress from directly seeing the costs of the war, saying Pete Hegst was "determined to keep the costs and consequences of this war hidden from the American people."
