Abfa: 36% decrease in rainfall in Tehran; The use of sewage is a necessity for the capital
Abfai of Tehran announced: Rainfall in Tehran province is 36% less than the long-term average. Replacing wastewater instead of conventional water in non-drinking uses is no longer a choice, but a necessity for the future of the capital
Referring to the continuation of water stress, the CEO of Tehran Provincial Waterworks announced that the amount of rainfall is 36% less than the long-term average, and recycling wastewater is considered a serious necessity.
According to the report of Ambassador of Arjan, Alireza Jazhqasmi, referring to the continuation of water tension in Tehran province, said: Tehran province has gone through five years of drought and despite the relative improvement of rainfall in the country, the amount of rainfall in Tehran is still 36% less than the long-term average.
The CEO of Tehran Province Water and Sewerage Company considered water recycling as one of the basic solutions to overcome the water shortage crisis and added: This year, four large wastewater treatment plants with a total annual capacity of 118 million cubic meters of wastewater will be opened in Tehran Province.
He emphasized the necessity of developing water recycling infrastructure by stating that treated wastewater is an important capacity to supply water needed by industry, agriculture and green spaces.
In addition, Jazhghasmi appreciated Safadasht municipality's investment in the field of sewage and water recycling and said: "One of the valuable measures in the west of Tehran province is Safadasht municipality's entry into this area, which is especially active in the field of water recycling."
Emphasizing the need for other municipalities to emulate this action, he added: Mallard and Shahriar municipalities should also seriously enter this area; Because the use of purified wastewater can meet the water needs of urban green spaces and industries while reducing the extraction of underground water resources.
Referring to the company's readiness to cooperate with municipalities and investors, the CEO of Abfai of Tehran Province noted: Municipalities can participate in the sustainable supply of water they need by receiving treated effluent, treating raw sewage or concluding cooperative and investment contracts.
In the end, Jazhghasemi emphasized: Considering the limitation of water resources, replacing wastewater instead of conventional water for non-drinking purposes is no longer a choice, but a necessity for the future of cities in Tehran province.
