If the Trend Continues / Kane Set to Break Ronaldo's Historic Record
In the Champions League, Ronaldo holds a special record that is now under threat from Harry Kane.
According to Sports Three, Bayern's number 9 striker once again played an important role in his team's dramatic comeback (while trailing 2-0) to draw 3-3 against the Vikings. He reduced the deficit in the 54th minute by converting a penalty kick won by Laimer, in the 60th minute he made it 2-2 with a header from Joshua Kimmish's pass, and decisively played a role in the 2-3 scoring opportunity in the 71st minute. He put Laimer in the right position with a great pass over the top of the defense and Laimer passed for Luis Diaz to score easily.
This double was accompanied by several other important events. The 32-year-old Englishman has scored a total of 450 goals as a professional at club level: two for Leicester, five for Leyton Orient, nine for Millwall, 280 for Tottenham and now 154 for Bayern.
In the Champions League, there is no stopping Kane: he has scored in nine consecutive games since January. Only Cristiano Ronaldo has scored in more consecutive games (11), between June 2017 and April 2018.
And there are other cases. Kane, who has 14 goals and five assists in 13 appearances for Bayern and England this season, continues his climb up the Champions League all-time top scorers list. He overtook Ruud van Nistelrooy (56 goals) for eighth place: he is now tied with Thomas Müller (57 goals).
