The Dead Who Refuse to Accept the End
In the novel «The Eternal Room,» the narrative opens with spirits waiting in the mortuary to put on white shrouds and camphor, still unable to believe they have died. Sanam, the protagonist, is drawn into this purgatorial realm after a violent accident to witness her own washing and shrouding.
According to ambassador Arjan; Dr. Ehsan Iqbal Saeed wrote in a note for the introduction of the Eternal Room book: Life is always accompanied by surprises, and it is strange that a person becomes oblivious and wants to follow the paths taken a thousand times and make Yusuf sit in a disgraceful home... A trip took place to the homeland of Tajikistan; I have always wanted to be a pilgrim and not a traveler. Stones and pillars, if they don't tell about people and don't tell their stories and sorrows, they are not worth as much as a memorial frame to me, that a person is the sanctity of the earth and the word is the source of life.
Next to Dushanbe Nowruz Palace, I saw a lady with a deep and sad look at the sanctity and depth of a boatless ocean; His appearance was that of an authentic Iranian. In him, the aristocracy and decency from the heart of the past years could be perceived with a little precision, and his words seemed to be in harmony with each other. I learned that Ms. Elham Heydari is an Iranian novelist and translator; And where is better than Dushanbe for a lover of words and a devotee of the charisma of literature and people? A place where he sheltered Lahuti and every outspoken and impatient person also accepts "Joy Molyan" and "Moi Mehrakhan" with open arms.
He said about his novel, and Jani, who uses words to tell a story about love, madness, and human sacrifice; And from the moisture of the tears that he brought to paper for his hero and the helplessness of the tired man and the disabled minds of this time when everyone is tied to the murder of Adam in search of meaning. He offered his book and what gift is more life-giving than a collection of words? It's like I've found a treasure chest and I've been busy with books until the morning. The name of the book is "Eternal Room"; And the end and eternity was always the concern of this pen and also the rolling of this restless soul, what really is a person? And where does this throbbing and stillness as well as elation and sadness come from? And if there was no death and decay and loss, what would happen to the mind and the time and perception of a person?
The book has nearly 330 pages and it was published by Alborz Publishing House. It is shocking as well as nail-biting; The story begins with the ghosts who are waiting in the morgue to wear a white dress that is not a bride and a fragrance that is not pleasant and camphor; And each of them is distraught and wandering, and some wanderers do not believe that they are dead. In this chapter, relying on the suspense between life and death, the author drags Sanam (the novel's protagonist) to this barzakhi field after a terrible accident to observe his bath and shroud in an eerie atmosphere; And what wretched person has opened his hand to deception to believe that "death is the end of the dove?" The dead in Mrs. Heydari's novel still do not believe the end and want to tear away the curtain of absence and absence with the nails of girlish mischief, and wave a regretful hand to the passing boys with a varnished nail.
The book, however, does not remain in sadness and the strength and storm of living enters the middle of the book; And of course there is regret and fear. With Sanam's continuous flashbacks from her coma to the world of the living, the plot of the story delves into the past that is divided between two different loves; And the heroine and lonely girl of the book narrates the story of servitude and heartbreak, as well as the moment of seeing a thousand-year-old long-lost friend named Farhad, which the girl writes in a magical interpretation: "I pulled her into his arms with my eyes"; And this has come back from death and has tasted sweetness, need and bitterness, now he knows what it means to have fragile hands, and they are constantly worried about how Farhad will narrate his falling in love with Maziar (another man who is no longer there and the shadow of his presence still weighs heavily on Sanam's fate)? What is the story of this man who reaches every hall and hall and even if he becomes the king of England, he demands a warm hand and a look that you know is not meant to stay? And the reeds of the eyes are only restless healing; But what about al-Taaz from such a place?
The scene of Farhad's proposal to the girl and watching the confrontation between Farhad and Molassenam's father is also a story in itself. The author delicately reveals the clash of family traditions and hidden psychological layers of the characters in this encounter. Ms. Elham Heydari has a collection of poems titled "And Eshgh was the heel of Ashilam"; And while reading the novel, in order to understand the author's inner self, I dug through his poetry collection and came up with this point: "The past... I have definitely been one of your things / that you have left and gone / and being in someone's past / is a part of being that makes one wrinkle"; And this poem is like the eternal room, the place where one doesn't believe and goes, and it's like the dream box doesn't let go.
Dr. Heydari's pen is wise and of course a little bitter; But bitterness is not for sadness, but for drunkenness and reflection and thought, as well as understanding and beautification of a person who passes through the tunnel of longings and not reaching, as well as running and wishing, and after reaching, he is faced with ordinary water and not whispering, as well as wine and mirage, and he continues to live and dream as a victory. Let me quote another poem from his book:
A place where a person becomes himself and in eternity
And finally, the book has a chapter under the title "You must return to yourself"; And this is the whole soul of Iranian and Eastern wisdom that after the noise of tools and instincts, one day a person must return to the dignity of his servitude and smallness and find the original life beyond the names, imaginations and tools and desire and find what cannot be found; And if he doesn't find it, he will sleep with his wish and while running, he will be mesmerized by the sound of the morning bird; And hearing a faint sound from the back alleys of Naqshjahan in Isfahan, made him sit on the edge of his heart and squeeze the warm hand of a sage from the heart of history (who is sometimes a dream and sometimes an infallible and contemporary prophet). Ms. Elham Heydari's books were the magic of Monday and turned the journey into a journey for me and also made the traveler a pilgrim. I hope you read and drink his words.
