According to ICT News; Google unveiled Fitbit Edge on October 12, 2026 (October 20, 1405). Featuring a tablet-shaped OLED display, this new health tracker offers 46% more surface area than the Charge 6, and its 11.5mm aluminum body is made with nanomolding technology. The pre-sale has started from the same date and the official launch will take place on October 27, 2026 (November 5, 1405).

Fitbit Edge is equipped with a 1.34-inch Hybrid OLED display with 46% more display area than the Charge 6. The recycled aluminum body is made with a thickness of 11.5 mm and a weight of 17.7 grams (without the strap), which is 45% lighter than the Apple Watch Series 12.

A large physical button on the right side is designed for swimming and exercise control that provides tactile feedback. This device has received IP68 and 5ATM certificates and is water resistant up to a depth of 50 meters.

The set of sensors of this device includes ECG to record heart rate and detect atrial fibrillation, SpO2 to monitor blood oxygen, skin thermometer, heart rate monitor, accelerometer, gyroscope, altimeter and barometer.

Internal GPS accuracy is improved by 40% compared to previous generations and works without the need for a phone. This improvement is achieved through an upgraded GPS chip and an aluminum body with nanomolding technology. This device can recognize up to 100 types of exercises automatically, which is a significant leap compared to 10 types in the previous generation.

Fitbit Edge's battery lasts up to 7 days, and in Always-on Display mode, this figure is reduced to about 2 days. Five minutes of charging covers a full day of activity, and a full charge takes 90 minutes. Fitbit Edge is the first Fitbit tracker with a user-replaceable battery.

The price of Fitbit Edge is $179.99 for the standard version and $219.99 for the special Stephen Curry version. The device is compatible with Android 11+ and iOS 16.4+, and unlike the Pixel Watch that only works with Android, it also supports iPhone.

For regulatory reasons, the ECG app is only available in selected countries and for people over 22 years of age. Also, unlike the Pixel Watch, the Fitbit Edge does not support NFC and Google Wallet.

Buyers get a free 3-month subscription to Google Health Premium, which enables artificial intelligence coaching with Gemini. After that, the monthly subscription is $9.99 or $99 annually.

A new feature called Health Guardian has been introduced in this device that tracks blood pressure trends, insulin resistance and high or low heart rate alerts in the background. This feature allows users to be aware of their health status without needing to check continuously.

The introduction of the Fitbit Edge represents a significant strategic shift in Google's approach to the health wearables market. Until now, Google has focused on the Pixel Watch as its flagship product. But now with the Fitbit Edge, it's aiming for a more affordable health tracker that's compatible with both Android and iOS.

The smart thing in the design of this product is the replaceable battery. Unlike most trackers today that have a non-replaceable battery, the Fitbit Edge allows users to replace the battery themselves. This feature can significantly increase the useful life of the device and is highly attractive for users who are looking for a durable tracker.

Also, the $179.99 price of this device puts it in a competitive price range with the Apple Watch SE and Galaxy Watch FE. However, the lack of support for NFC and Google Wallet can be limiting for some users.

All in all, the Fitbit Edge is designed for users looking for an accurate, durable, and affordable health tracker, not a full-fledged smartwatch. If Google can deliver on its promises of GPS accuracy and battery life, it could grab a significant share of the health tracker market.
