Valve is introducing a big new feature for Steam Achievements called "Achievement Collections" that will allow developers to list different groups of achievements for a base game and DLC.

"In games that support collections, you'll still unlock achievements by playing the game as usual," Valve says. But when you review what you've unlocked later, Steam breaks down the game's long list of achievements into developer-created collections, making it easier to see what you've completed and find other related achievements you can unlock next. Achievement sets have their own progress bars, and if you complete a set, you'll receive a "Complete Set" award that can be seen on your profile.

Steam also supports seasonal achievement collections that developers can archive. "We think there are a lot of fun ways games can take advantage of the temporary nature they can add, such as adding achievements to seasonal games or enabling limited-time holiday redemptions," Valve said.

The company is also updating the Steam Achievements page to show "a summary of overall progress, progress in each achievement set, and details on individual achievements."
