Manuscript of Hafez's Divan Unveiled

Khorasan Razavi – The 310th Tuesday Scientific and Cultural Program of the Astan Quds Razavi was held, featuring the unveiling of a handwritten manuscript of Hafez's Divan donated by the Martyred Leader, at the Razavi Library.

According to the reporter of Iran's Arjan ambassador in Mashhad, Seyyed Reza Sadaqat Hosseini, an expert in manuscript evaluation and registration of the Astan Quds Razavi manuscripts management, said about this copy: This manuscript of Diwan Hafez, in 13-line Nastaliq script, on 202 sheets of Ahar Mehre pea paper with dimensions of 8.5 x 15 cm, was written in the year 1047 AH and was bound with the Annabi mission.

He added: The present work, which has 11 exquisite image panels, is one of the works donated by the martyred leader to the library of Motahar Razavi Shrine in October 2015.

Sadaqat Hosseini named the leader of the martyr as the greatest guardian of the manuscripts of the library of the holy shrine of Razavi and clarified: Currently, there are 196 manuscripts of Diwan Hafez in this library, of which 44 copies are among the works donated by the leader of the martyr (Rizwan, may Allah be pleased with him).

Hamidreza Navidimehr, director of the Department of Persian Language and Literature of Imam Reza International University (A.S.), in the continuation of the ceremony focusing on the dignity of literature and Persian-speaking writers in the thought of the martyred leader, said: the scope of acquaintance of the martyred leader with literature was not only limited to Persian literature and Persian-speaking writers, and he knew world literature well, especially fictional literature and world classics.

Referring to some of the statements of Quaid Shahid, he added: He had a complete and mature view on the subject of poetry and literature and considered poetry and literature to be intertwined with national and cultural identity. In fact, from the point of view of the martyr leader, Persian literature, especially the works of prominent Persian poets, is an outstanding heritage that forms our national and cultural identity.

Mentioning key words from the martyr leader's statements in this regard, Navidi Mehr said: From his point of view, the speakers of Persian literature are the messengers of wisdom, monotheism, belief in God, monotheism, honesty and many other qualities.

This university professor continued: The type of condolence messages that the martyred leader has in previous decades during the death of contemporary poets such as the memorial of Master Kamal and the memorial of Master Mohammad Kahraman also shows how important Iranian writers were to them.

Navidi Mehr, in the second part of his speech, focusing on Hafez's poetry and thought in the words of Quaid Shahid (Rizwan, may Allah be pleased with him), said: They were familiar with Hafez since childhood due to the existence of a copy of Hafez's Diwan in their house, which belonged to their grandfather.

He added: The martyr's leader's speech about Hafez Shirazi also shows his precise and mature view and a long-standing relationship with the court of this famous poet. From his point of view, Divan Hafez is a treasure and store of cultural identity for all Iranians. In other words, they have a universal view of Hafez.

While reading some verses of Hafez Shirazi's poems, the speaker of the ceremony said: Also, Quaid Shahid considered Hafez's ghazal as the pinnacle of Persian speech and had a specialized look like a researcher on the ghazals of this outstanding poet.

He said: On the other hand, they do not have a one-sided view of Hafez. Therefore, they knew the martyr leader, Hafez Shirazi's character and thought very comprehensively and completely. Hafez's worldview is also mystical from his point of view.

The director of the Department of Persian Language and Literature of Imam Reza International University (AS) noted: He also paid special attention to the aspect of Hafez Shirazi being a Quran memorizer. Therefore, from his point of view, commemoration of Hafez is commemoration of Quranic, Islamic, Iranian culture and those pure thoughts that have been collected in this Diwan and expressed in the best and most eloquent language.

A part of a film clip of the martyr leader's statements about Hafez Shirazi, a prominent poet of the 8th century AH, was one of the other parts of this scientific and cultural Tuesday program of Astan Quds Razavi.
