The new '3 for 2' board game is now on sale at Amazon and Target
If you've been dying to build your own board set for some fall game nights, you're in luck: Target and Amazon are both running great "3 for 2" sales on board games, puzzles and toys.
I spent some time comparing the choices between the two sales, and Target actually came out on top in terms of the number of options available in the deal. However, if you're looking for a specific game, you may find a better individual discount on Amazon. The big retailer kicked off its October sale last week, and some of the discounts haven't gone away yet.
Selling '3 for 2' board games at Amazon and Target
Both sales work the same way: Add three eligible items to your cart and the cheapest one will automatically be discounted to $0 at checkout. To maximize the "cheapest item" discount, I recommend a strategy of pricing the three items you add. This deal also stacks, so for every three games you add to your cart, you'll get one free game or puzzle.
The Fourth Wing Board Game: Rise of the Wing Glider
Both sales include a mix of traditional table games and faster card games. If you don't already have something in mind, I'd be wondering if your collection is missing something quick and casual, or a longer campaign for a more dedicated group. If you just want to build a solid collection, you'll never regret picking up classics like Catan.
There is also a collection of themed versions. These are of course a ridiculously large number of exclusive types, although you also have brand new releases like the Fourth Wing board game. As someone who gets a lot of satisfaction from knowing the Pokedex, I personally recommend the Pokemon Guess Who version.
Why do I think Target wins this one? Well, in addition to including classics like Clue that Amazon left out, Target also includes a ton of expansions. So instead of getting three separate games, you get Cards Against Humanity plus two expansions. Or you can just invest in a set of developer apps for the games you already own.
The Target sale will be live until October 17th at 11:59 PM PT. Amazon's sale doesn't provide a firm end date, but given that it's existence is likely a price-matching situation, I'd assume it will run for a similar amount of time.

theory11 Star Wars Jigsaw Puzzle - 1000 Pieces
Ravensburger Disney and Pixar jigsaw puzzle - 1000 pieces
Rosart peanut cast jigsaw puzzle - 300 pcs
Both sales include lots of puzzles from great companies like Ravensburger, RoseArt and theory11. Sure, these may not offer the same level of competition as a board game, but they still offer an opportunity for social collaboration.
