Let's Not Hurl Insults at Tooraj Daryaei, Dolatabadi, and Farhadi

We must not fall into the trap of scenarios and hurl insults at Tooraj Daryaei, Mahmoud Dolatabadi, Asghar Farhadi, or anyone else who holds a view different from ours.

Ali Asghar Seyyedabadi believes: We should not fall into the trap of scenarios and insult Torej Mariya, Mahmoud Dolatabadi, Asghar Farhadi and anyone else who has an opposite opinion.

According to Ambassador Arjan's report, following the publication of the recent speech of Toraj Mariya criticizing the statements of Marco Rubio, the US Secretary of State, about the attack of Xerxes on Athens and the attacks that were launched against this historian after that, which resulted in his reaction and again added to the scope of the attacks, Ali Asghar Seyedabadi - writer and cultural activist - in a note entitled "In defense of freedom of speech; A reflection on reactions to sea tourism" has written:

"If I were a seafarer, I would pass by the curses and insults, even with a broken heart. I understand how influential such stories are for someone who is a researcher and writer, how time-consuming and nerve-wracking they are, but behind the scenes of these group attacks, it is complicated.

It is true that many of the attackers are ordinary people, but those who make the attack on maritime tourism a collective concern of a section of people are not ordinary people. It is not a coincidence that all of a sudden, after the scientific criticism of Rubio's words, all the name-bearers of the same movement fall on him. Now, like any group attack, passers-by may join in and throw a punch.

I am not surprised by this, but I am surprised by those who consider themselves supporters of the truth and join these waves by finding a fault that was not important to them until yesterday. It's true that joining these waves acts like a pledge of allegiance and drives group likes to the page, but is it ethical? Is it in the interest of the future of Iran?

Why should you get so upset in front of the opposing speech that you get the speaker to the point where he gives you an excuse and then start a campaign to fire him? What happens to tolerance and freedom of expression and the right to dissent?

In this one century, we have tried the tyranny of the atmosphere many times and we have seen its consequences. The value of freedom of speech does not depend on supporting someone or being loyal to someone else. I think today standing up against group attacks, or at least not joining them, is defending freedom of speech.

Of course, at the heart of these attacks is a kind of temptation to crush anyone who has a name, reputation and credit; The temptation to suppress anyone who is taller and has independence.

One may line up examples from the life and words of Torrej Marmaris to justify the attack on him, but the fact is that the first attacks had no reason other than to criticize Rubio. First, its suppression began, and then they found its reasons, reasons that do not justify such an attack or were formed in response to a group attack.

Put every person's life under the microscope in every situation, you will find a few mistakes in forty and fifty years of life! We don't need to go far; It is enough to review our own memories.

These mistakes are usually not so important that others write against them, but it is enough if a person condemns violence, opposes the aggression of his country or does not visit someone that his fans expect, so that his dictation and translation mistakes and mistakes in answering and his positions from years ago will be pulled out for his destruction.

For several years, this game has been going on, where every Iranian with a little credit, independence and honor is the target of group attacks. One end of this game is in Israel and journalists have written an investigation about it, and the other end is in Iran.

We should not fall into the trap of these scenarios and curse Toraj Mariya, Mahmoud Dolatabadi, Asghar Farhadi and anyone else who has an opinion that is contrary to ours. Toraj Mariya is one of the most important and prolific researchers of ancient Iran. His works and the works that have been published in English through his efforts and the participation of others about Iran are influential in the knowledge of Iranians.

Such people are our national assets, with all their weaknesses. Discrediting them won't cure any pain and won't bring about any change. It only deprives us of the connection with the culture and art of this land and leads to our dispersion and fragmentation."
