The president of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq announced that since the start of Washington's war against Tehran, it has closed its borders with Iran and deployed security forces along the border strip to prevent attacks against Tehran.
The head of the Kurdistan region of Iraq announced that since the start of Washington's war against Tehran, they closed their borders with Iran and deployed security forces along the border to prevent attacks against Tehran.
According to Ambassador Arjan's report, quoted by Ambassador Arjan, which is published from Baghdad, Iraqi Kurdistan Region President Nichervan Barzani said on Monday during a discussion session at the meeting of the Middle East Research Institute (Mary) in Erbil that the Kurdistan Region's position since the beginning of the war has been to prevent entering into conflict and maintain the security and stability of the region.
Referring to the continuous coordination with the central government of Iraq and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, he said that since the beginning of the war, the contacts between Erbil, Baghdad and the Patriotic Union have continued on a daily basis in order to prevent the transfer of the consequences of the military conflict to the territory of the region.
Barzani emphasized that Iran is Iraq's neighbor and this war is not the Kurdistan region's war.
He said: Regional authorities are against using their territory to threaten Iran's security or conduct cross-border military operations.
The president of the Kurdistan Region also announced that from the first day of the war [Washington against Tehran], the borders were closed and security forces were deployed along the border strip.
According to him, it was clearly announced to the Iranian opposition parties based in the region that they are not allowed to carry out any attack against Iran from the territory of Iraq.
Referring to international laws and the constitution of Iraq, Barzani said that the use of this country's territory to carry out armed attacks against neighboring countries is not allowed, and this principle is the fixed basis of the Kurdistan region's security policy.
He added that the measures taken are aimed at preventing the escalation of border tensions, protecting the security of the climate and its residents, and maintaining relations with neighboring countries in the sensitive security and political conditions of the region.
In another part of his speech, the president of the Kurdistan region announced the existence of an understanding between Erbil and Baghdad on strategic issues, despite the internal political differences, and said that protecting the climate and maintaining its stability has led the political parties to strengthen coordination during the crisis.
Barzani's assessment is that the Kurdistan region has succeeded in avoiding direct entry into this conflict [America and Iran].
