The director of the Fleet Renewal and Worn-Out Vehicle Scrapping Headquarters announced that 28,000 worn-out vehicles were scrapped in Shahrivar of this year.

The director of the transportation fleet modernization and scrapping of used cars announced the scrapping of 28,000 vehicles in September this year.

According to Ambassador Arjan Mohammadsadegh Hatami, referring to the annual scrapping of 500,000 used cars in the 7th Progress Program, he said: With the amendment of Article 10 of the Automobile Industry Organization Law in August this year and its notification by the government in early September, the process of scrapping used cars has accelerated.

The director of the transport fleet modernization and scrapping of used cars announced the scrapping of 28,000 cars in September this year and said: despite the reduction of car production by more than 36%, the scrapping of used cars has been broken in the last 20 months.

He added: If one million and 700 thousand cars and motorcycles are produced annually, there is a possibility of scrapping more than 250 thousand used cars by the end of this year.

The director of the transport fleet renewal and scrapping of used cars continued in a television interview: by planning and continuing the process of removing used cars from the transport fleet, the goal of scrapping 500,000 cars in 1406 can be achieved.

Changing the rules of car numbering and scrapping

Hatami considered the implementation of the amendment of Article 10 of the Automobile Industry Organization Law and the obligation to scrap one used car for the numbering of four production cars as one of the reasons for the increase in the number of scrapped cars.

He explained: According to the regulations approved in 1402, for every 12 production cars numbered, one used car was removed from the transport fleet. However, with the amendment of this regulation, the ratio of scrapping to numbering has changed to one car against four production cars.
