And Suddenly, Saffron...| On a Happy Event in Mobarakeh
Since drought and climate change have become more serious, many of the country's major agricultural hubs have endured difficult days.
Ever since the story of drought and climate change became more serious, many important agricultural poles of the country have gone through bitter days.
Ambassador Arjan: But sometimes a collective effort and common wisdom with determination out of love and compassion can change the situation for the benefit of the earth and its inhabitants. An example of this story should be seen in the attractive color of a new agricultural program in Talekhonche region of Isfahan province.
What are we talking about? From the operation of collective cultivation of saffron in lands that are not benefiting from the mercy of the sky like in the past, and farmers whose lives depend on this land and cultivation.
The main story is that in Talekhonche, which is located near the city of Mubarakeh, a group of farmers, having received a loan from the social responsibility budget of the Mubarakeh Steel Company, went to cultivate saffron, a low-water crop.
Rasul Mehmandoost, head of social responsibility of Mobarake Steel Company, says about this project: These days, in Mobarake city, we are witnessing the unveiling of the first agricultural land that has been cultivated with a new model and with the support of Mobarake Steel.
The main difference between this plan and the traditional methods of social responsibility is the transformation of grants into productive and returnable capital.
In this model, Mobarake Steel provides financial resources to the Agricultural Development Fund. The fund also grants facilities to agricultural accelerator companies. By providing inputs and signing contracts with farmers, these companies carry out cultivation operations and guarantee the purchase of the product.
In this way, the farmer will get more financial support and confidence to sell the product, the accelerator company will have a profitable economic activity, and the facility resources will return to the fund from the place of sale of the products to be available to the producers again.
Another important point is to promote the cultivation of low-water crops, which is particularly important considering the limited water resources of the region.
In this fascinating autumn event in Talekhonche region, Dr. Zahra Saeedi, the representative of Mubarakeh in the parliament, has not spared any efforts. While appreciating the idea of planting saffron in lands that have been under unfavorable cultivation conditions for years due to lack of water, he says: Mobarakeh and Isfahan province used to be Iran's agricultural hub, but the conditions have changed in such a way that now Mobarakeh is an economic hub and the name of steel has become the identifier of this region. But this new decision of Foulad Mobarakeh will cause the name of Talekhoncheh, Majlisi and Mobarakeh to be heard again as an agricultural center in the country.
Mehrdad Muradmand, head of Isfahan Province's Jihad Agricultural Organization, described this idea as a sign of the will and wisdom of the collective to preserve the lives of farmers and generate capital through new ideas at the beginning of mechanized saffron cultivation in Talekhoncheh.
Now the thirsty lands are supposed to be green again by cultivating saffron and in the next stages by cultivating water-deficient plants such as cumin and adding various medicinal plants to the collection of land owners and the support of Foulad Mubarakeh, and make the lives of farmers greener.
