Spain awarded Delafuente an honorary doctorate

Luis Delafuente, the head coach of the Spanish national team, received an honorary doctorate from the Catholic University of Murcia in a special ceremony at the Los Jerónimos Monastery.

According to "Sports Three", the ceremony was held with the presence of academic and political officials of the Murcia region, including the president of the university, the president of the Autonomous Region of Murcia, and the president of the Spanish Olympic Committee, and was accompanied by long applause from the attendees.

Lourdes Meronio, dean of the university's athletic department, described Delafuente's career path as an outstanding example, saying his legacy is not limited to athletic honors, but also his ability to inspire others. Alejandro Blanco, president of the Spanish Olympic Committee, also emphasized that this honor does not belong to Delafuente alone, but also represents the efforts of thousands of coaches throughout Spain who help nurture the younger generation.

The head coach of Spain said in his speech titled "The values of football as a school of life", "If someone asks me what is the most important lesson that football has given me, I have a simple answer; This sport has not only taught me how to win, it has taught me how to live. In my opinion, this is the greatness of sports; Because it is considered one of the most powerful educational tools."

Delafuente also emphasized the importance of respect, generosity, humility and commitment, saying the best teams aren't necessarily the ones with the most talent, but the teams with the strongest values. He called the Spanish national team an example of groups that go beyond a sports team and become a family, and added that individual success is valuable, but teamwork can transform societies.
